Essential refurbishments works were carried out to the 181 year old, Grade II listed Gauxholme Viaduct, situated in the market town of Todmorden, West Yorkshire in 2020/2021.
We were commissioned to fully design and develop an access solution to facilitate blasting and painting works, along with steel and strengthening repairs to the main span over the canal, along with masonry spans 2 and 3 and all associated turrets.
The scaffold was designed utilising heavy duty 750mm beams, suspended from the bottom flange of the bridge, running adjacent to the abutments, to provide a fully decked birdcage scaffold to the underside of the main girders, along with cantilever scaffolds, built up to access both parapets and installed up and over the track.
All works were carried out over a live canal and tow path, whilst the rail lines above, were fully operations.
The project feature in numerous media outlets, including Rail Insider, ITV News and New Civil Engineer.
